Positively impacting the quality of life for ALL. That is the mission of our City Manager. Shannon Lavrin delivered her first State of the City address to reflect on the accomplishments of the past budget year and set priorities.
"Every line item, every dollar spent, reflects our priorities, values and aspirations," Lavrin said. "Growth-related issues such as infrastructure strain, traffic congestion, land use and housing affordability transcend municipal boundaries. Addressing them requires proactive planning, collaboration and a holistic approach."
Here are just a few things we accomplished in FY24:
Hosted 690 events including Jazz Fest
Served 730 athletes through City programs
Collected 30,000 tons of materials, including recycling, trash and yard waste
Established homeless court
Purchased more than 12 acres of open space on Ridge Road and 2+ acres in Nicholtown
Launched the Access GVL App
Approved a $381,000 partnership with Village Launch Ministries to support minority and women-owned entrepreneurs
Added six SRO positions for our city schools.
Planted 382 trees and gave away 728 trees since January
Invested over $9.8 million for neighborhood sidewalks; in our Special Emphasis Neighborhoods, we are investing an additional $5.1 million in sidewalks
Added 9000 square feet of court space at Gower Park
Investing $5.2 million in a sewer enhancement project downtown
We invested $18.7 million in traffic management.
